what there is to do

I'm tired of working on myself and changing. Fuck it. I'm perfect the way that I am.
The way that I am is ripe, and soon it will burst and rot. But before it disappears, it will put out crazy amounts of seeds. These are my ideas, my gray hairs, or maybe yours. Who really cares?
I'm perfect, and I must change and reinvent myself constantly.
And I don't actually reinvent myself, because I'm simply a bastard child of my own culture. I'm just along for the ride.
But I'm an autonomous immortal spirit.
It's ALL true, and it's the paradox that is a transfiguring dance.

Help

Words from my favourite Zen teacher:
“Each one of you is perfect as you are. And you all could use a little bit of improvement.”
~ Shunryu Suzuki Roshi
We all can re-invent ourselves to work to become the person we think we are. It depends on what you tell yourself you are. It's not talking or thinking about being in the Now. You can only experience Now by letting go of preconceived ideas, regrets about the past, and just live in the freshness of unlimited possibilities in the moment. You can rest in peace in the moment where everything is perfect, including you. I found out that this is a spiritual shift, not an intellectual one. You can then rest in gratefulness for each moment. TIJMO (this is just my opinion)
((((hugs))))
I've played around with the reinventing tool a few times by now & i'm not entirely sure of how efficient it really is or maybe we may be able to look like 'bird & fish' & at the core we basically stay the same. I think perfection is a momentary happening & change is not meant to be forcefed at frantic pace, it's a constant, happening quite on it's own anyway. And from where I'm looking, we humans are at our best when we go with the flow, enjoy the ride, do a lil dance now & then & just be ;-)
ps: wise words mimi.
I read this ,read the comments, nodded my head, all three of you, heart and wisdom on two legs
Yep, I'm following Bridget around from blog to blog (thanks, Bridget!) and go-for-it-Martha! I vote for Mimi's wisdom too. I've gone for years saying “yep, this person is fine just as she is” and then wanting to tear out certain personality or behavioral characteristics because they didn't measure up to an ideal. I'm convinced it's a balance thing, though. Like we're really OK at the core, but in the moment we deep-inside-know what we're suppose to do. Like sometimes we do this, another time do that. Today I don't know a damn thing though so will absorb all your words…
PS What a picture! I LOVE it!
Martha,
What a great picture! And, of course, love the sentiments “Fuck it, I'm perfect the way I am.” Yep. I just love it when you go on a rampage and wind up with the beautiful wisdom out of the storm.
May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit bless ALL who enter there.
May your mocassins make happy tracks in many snows and
May the rainbow always touch your shoulder.
ALWAYS with the emphasis on …
ONLY what “needs 2B DONE”
I LOVE this authentic expression Martha. I am going to remember this all day, and then, forever…
Why is it easier said than KNOWN? To know: “I'm perfect the way that I AM.”
I was sitting around wanting to read something beautiful, so I brought up your space on GAIA. I find what I was looking for: Something Beautiful.
What a beautiful place filled with beautiful souls.
The following kind of fits in here after what Michael said above: ONLY what “needs 2B DONE”
In periods of trial: If (you/I) can't do what (you/I) want to do, do something else. If (you/I) don't feel like doing that, then I choose the best of what there is. . . . to do.
Blessings, Love and Comforting Thoughts are coming your way.
Joyous Mary M.
