What, in this moment, is bringing you joy?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 24, 2008:
I'm posting this blog as a Q&R because what is bringing me joy at this moment is the absolute assurance that we are not alone, that we are indeed connected. I want to share this story with as many as possible. Our healing network of Love and Light at Gaia is real. I posted the story below on my profile, because a Gaia member named Danita Apple has been ill, and was in a critical situation at Mayo Clinic yesterday. Many have been holding her in Love and Light and sending her good wishes and healing energies. Danita was not particularly aware of these activities because she was quite ill, and we didn't discuss Gaia much before she went into the hospital, and she doesn't remember very much of Saturday anyway. Here is a true story of Gaian healing energy:
With my friend Elizabeth, I visited sweet Danita Apple in Mayo Clinic Hospital today. Danita is a LOT better! She is talking normally and totally in charge. I mentioned to her that several Gaians had been sending her Love and Light, and this is what she said:
“It's interesting that you say that! Let me tell you what happened yesterday. There was, like a mist around my bed. Like a fog, really. Not a dark fog or anything, but a light mist. And I could hear drumming, like from a frame drum. And I thought, 'That's strange! Where is this drumming coming from?' and I could feel people with me. Like a group, and they were kind of like dancing, or just being there with me and moving, you know, like to the drums. It wasn't like I was dead or anything. It was actually pleasant! But I could feel people with me. I could hear the drum!”
“Danita,” I said, “Lisa Morningstar was drumming her meditation on a frame drum!”
We got chills.

I've got chills now, too…and a huge smile on my face!
It's true….I did play my drum the day your status mentioned that Apple's surgery had become complicated. I was doing some serious packing that day, but had kept the frame drum around. Ever since the Gaia Gathering in Florence, I've been more into it than ever. I think it's those powerful memories of drumming with everyone (and the dancing that went on), and especially the point where Apple and I had an intense drumming experience that actually alleviated her pain for a while. I now find the sound of it more mesmerizing than before and I can easily zone or trance because of it.
And so, two days ago, when I learned about Apple and what was going on, I became concerned. I thought–hey, maybe I can do something (even though I don't consider myself a healer or even someone who's good at sending basic energy). I decided to start by burning some sage/sweet grass…and then I grabbed my frame drum and sat in my room, at the edge of my bed, visualizing Apple mostly and remembering what it was like when she and I had those magical drumming moments together (along with Judi), the group involvement with the drumming and then, and the moment when Winnie (Dryad) arrived….Apple's “namaste” song/chant combined with the sound of the frame drum I was playing. I saw everyone else who was there in Florence and recalled the general vibes of openness, etc.. Overall, I did my best to recreate the space and vibes from Florence and send it over to Apple. To be honest, it was my first time doing it and I wasn't sure what it could/would do, but I had a feeling it might do something.
And sure enough, it did.
I am overjoyed beyond belief! I'm mostly happy that Apple is OK—that's what matters most. I love the fact that she saw the healing mist and heard the sound of the drum. What's amazing is that it was the frame drum—my drum of choice for this experience!!!
And I'm thrilled to back in the groove as far as drumming goes (I thank Apple for that). I'd forgotten its power, its energy and how far it can reach…and I now remember.
Pls. tell Apple that I'm so happy she's doing better and that I can't wait to chat with her…X0X to her and you!

Hi there! It's been a long day, and I'm just getting back to you. Thank you so much for your comments and positive energy!
Lisa, Yes, the drumming was a big part of the experience. Even yours truly here is now interested in drums. Danita now has a drum, and she's reading a book about healing with drums, and I get to read it as soon as she's done. When she's feeling better, there's another book about how to use drums in working with kids in neighborhoods and schools, even gangs, to help them experience a sense of oneness and sharing and creating together with the drums. We've definitely opened a door there!
