Last night I woke up in the middle of the night, and I was staring through the shadows onto my kitchen counter, the same area as in the photo above. There was a caterpillar crawling on the tops of everything, going from right to left. He kinda looked like this,
And then I woke up and and was staring into the darkness and seeing the sleeping form of my husband and hearing his gentle snoring-type breathing.
Wow! How could I have awakened within a dream, and then awakened again perfectly the same way in this other dream that we call life?
In both cases I felt exactly the same amount of awake! There was absolutely NO way to tell the difference between the two experiences of "waking up," other than the one where I found myself in my bed in the dark bedroom lasts much longer (like until now).
And strangely, I realized that in the dream I had been a baby in a crib, and when I woke up again, I was still a baby in a crib--until I realized that was impossible. I guess that says something about my stage of soul development! :) Hmm. All eternity and I'm still a baby! What a deal!

you probably woke up from your dream because your gentle snoring husband poked you in the ribs becuase you weren't so gently snoring.
How did you know?
LOL!
The process and mechanics of dreaming is very complicated. There are many levels and stages of dreaming, and I am not talkinga bout the ones that doctors and scientists describe. I have had vivid dreams since I was about 12. I can start dreaming almost instantly and wake up and be in a in-between stage, and move back and forth. We can change our dreams as we dream (sleep doctor university professor taught me this - because I had dreams that I could not shake free of their impact ==and even speaking of certain images would make me burst into tears (one involved the curtains on the windows dissolving - that would put me into huge sobs.)
You got a glimpse of another way to dream and I hope you will enjoy this new discovery.
Very cool Martha…you are getting the chance to be childlike and view the world from the crib!
Woohoo…what a cool dream…can you teach me, pleasepleaseplease?? LOL
I need a friggin diversion in my life!
LOL
Yes, Mimi! Aley and I are appreciating your Mondo expertise with the dreams! Thank you for the encouragement. Personally, I'm a naive dreamer. I admire people who can work with their dreams or even change them.
Yes, Aley. Let's learn to Lucid Dream. That ought to keep us busy!
i'm freakin' here … cuz I dreamed this morning that I was really old and that everyone I interacted with and enjoyed was treating me as really old. They didn't think I was 'fragile old' but old … as in antique and unique … and I thought this was reality - not a dream.
caterpiller is on it's way to become a cacoon and then become a butterfly … first stage of metamorphasis … ;-))
I too could use a diversion … lucid dreaming sounds cool. mimi … pedicures and lucid dreaming???
ps… your counter looks a lot like mine.
oooh lucid dreaming… yes, my friends are lucid dreamers it is super cool. if you're interested one of them has created a pod with tips on lucid dreaming here
