How do you make decisions?

Posted on Nov 14th, 2008 by martha : wildlygentle martha
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 14, 2008:

Definitely through the tugs of my heart strings!  If I know my heart, most times there is not so much a decision to make as a knowing that shows me the way.

There have been a couple of times in my life when I've been ambivalent about an important decision, and this can be VERY painful!  What I do then is just stay with the discomfort until I know what to do.  This might take years.  It's an unforgetable situation, and leaves its marks on my soul in the same way as loss or hard-learned lessons.

if it takes that long….then the decision is well done. Nothing like a slow cooked meal to make the belly feel good.

Sounds smart.  I used to do that  knee-jerk thing because I became over-emotional and a bit of Drama Queen thrown in (Yikes! it used to make me feel so alive - gaaaaawd ;>(

Luckily, like you, I have learned to stay with the discomfort and be still and let it pass through me, burn itself out gently , and give me some  clarity.  If something demands immediate attention, I can do that and hope for the best, hope I cause no harm.  There are many ways to deal with anything. (((hugs))

Martha, why am I not surprised to know this is the process for you … that's how come I just love your blogs and why I feel so drawn to them - I learn so much, but more than that somehow I'm comforted by them – not to mention entertained!  :)  You have quite the way with words and a sense of humor that rocks!
Loved this blog

Hi , Martha ! How are today , my friend ? You know how I make my decisions ? First of all , I let go , for a day or so , Then I ask God to help to make the best decision  for me or for somebody I love . Then ask myself ,  ( what is my Priority , on this ? ) It comes to tell that we need to ask us some questions , what we need and want . You understand . ? Love linamanda.

Hmm.  Should I click back in and comment?  or not?  comment?  or not?  :)

It's so wonderful to be connected with each and every of you wonderful people!

Hey nightphoenix!  It's been awhile!  Nice to see you!

Oh Maze, {{{{{{{BIG HUG}}}}}}}}

Nishtha, yes I bet we have some stories to share about decisions!

Mimi!  Yes, well you DO have wisdom there.  Sometimes my learning doesn't get clear until years later, you know?

Judi, you are way too nice.  And that's one of the many reasons I like your writing, too.  You reassure me–you are an expert explorer of intellectual and emotional/ethical territory that I love to roam.  You show me that the hidden paths really do exist, and they are often the ways of the heart.

Linamanda, you angel!  Ah, si, but that's just the thing.  I understand the priorities, it's just that they don't manifest hierarchically.  They simply pull me in different directions, so I'm…torn!  Oh well.  It's called TRN 101, and the required textbook is a committed relationship partner.  Ah.
