Oh, I think Aley is taking it one state at a time… with all the weather happening throughout her trip! I will be welcoming her home here in the pacific northwest where for the time being all we have going on is LOTS OF RAIN!!! Ok, I know it is expected that we get lots of RAIN… but sometimes we get ice and snow too!!! So, let's just pray that as Aley comes around the mountains … that she is met with only RAIN! Otherwise the travel can be quite challenging through those mountain passages!!!

And yes peri I love red especially red numbers with those cute little minus signs in front of them. And I have a whole box of new colors in the mail to me from Daniel Smith and a 30X40 canvas all primed and ready for the next painting to start and enough beans and rice for bean soup for the next month, and I have friends galore, lovely friends!

Sigh, Fee left zaadz. At least he had a manicure before he departed. 

I brought puppy chow that my nieces and I made last night.  It has 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup butter or margarine (melt these three),  1 teaspoon vanilla (stir in to previous), add all to 9 cups chex cereal, then shake with 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar.  Woof :-)

Ha, I'm back and you hardly noticed because I had Karl the ski instructor step in for me while I stepped out into the woods for a long walk. I'm not sure if I was walking off rusty nails or saki but you should have seen the trees out there!
Naked while lines just waiting for the light to crest the southern hills again and then that lime green life, so trusting that it will happen just like that. Little white mushrooms sprouted on the side of the trials and pale green moss hung from the trees before I reached a creek that could not be crossed. I imagine Fee will be back too, it seems we always cross over the same path more then once and each time it's new.

Thanks Doug for making sure we ladies are well taken care of! Karl is such a dream.  Are you sure you weren't into some of the mushrooms on the trail???

I went back in and got my camera and took a few shots. I got some great shots of some light orbs and some other magical things show up! Wow! Lots of activity in the sky these days.

OK, guys my neighbor brought over some Deadly Chocolate Chip Pound Cake with Powdered Sugar on top … I'm sharing! It is soooooo good - much like this divine hot water spa! … ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

As I was munching on the shrooms … I completely missed the water ballet!! (Big yawn!!) Man I was tired! Must have been the walk and the saki and the heat and I left the mushroons there. They aren't the shroomy type or the kind you fry in your fried rice, unless you like liver transplants. We'll have to check peri's backyard for that kind of magic shroom.
And my next painting will be all of that perhaps and a little sigh before relaxing into it's already perfect. So why paint at all?
Maybe it's the beauty in that sigh and beauty isn't perfect it's the tension between.
And ironically that is perfect.

A walk on the beach or in the woods or perhapsdown an urban street, up a subway stairway … life itself triggers your creative juices! This is what I love about you! My backyard has many overgrown wildflowers, (frozen in their majesty right now) some (3 LARGE) ancient apple trees and the brave and quite daring blackberry bramble … but alas no mushrooms!

Yes, I am to am due for some TLC!  I worked today at my downtown BIG OFFICE as I call it … where all the bigwigs reside… and oooooh I got my earful of all the latest political gossip in our community and I also got some productive work done! Now I have 5 days OFF and ooooooh let me ease my way back into this hot, therapeutic water!

Hey all, I'm still here.  I was on the other side of the spa checking out the scenery.  They were doing olympic diving.  Quite interesting though a few splats.  What are we drinking tonight?  Maybe one of those toasty hot drinks like Kahlua, Baileys, and coffee and of course whipped cream and a cherry on top, and some sprinklies :)

Martha, your holidays certainly are full of drama :)  Glad things are ok and you got some much needed you time.  My sister and I have gift certificates for massages though I may not be able to have one before I head south.  Once back I simply must get in to see my hair dresser (the one here in spaland is good by the way but my style won't make it home :) 

Then, I think I'll have the works, nails, toes, facial, all of it.  I would like to see the New Year head in all prettied up!  Plus, I'll be all ready for the new semester :)

Oh, this is bliss! And the timing couldn't be more perfect. I've just finished dealing with a bit of stress and trying to let it go … I'm on vacation and …grrr…. ah. Just feel the warm swirling water while ice crystals form in my hair.  mmmmmm….

Hi all!

I'm just getting back from Vesuvio's Café in North Beach next the City Lights Book Store. So I was seated at a table with this girl named Izzy whom I had never met and I drew her portrait on napkins under the table and somehow over the course of the evening she walked away with my t-shirt. Oh well, I'll just have to make another tomorrow.

So those white naked trees I spoke about the other day, last night while I was painting the Mindy Smith song Hurricane came on and I realized that it was what the trees were feeling waiting for spring. So that is what I'm painting now, that feeling. Ah, it looks like shit right now, but given the subject matter that seems right. And it's raining tonight so maybe I should put the painting out tonight and see how the rain paints it?

Alright so make a a little space for me cause I'm coming in now and make it straight kahlua as I have the north beach coffee jitters.

Although I must admit pouring alcohol into a flaming glass is not something I've tried and, I don't know, I kind of like my monkey paws as they are (and they come in handy for my profession!) so messing with flames is something I'd rather watch than do. cluck cluck.

We all feel it, at least some of the time.

Our body reacts to stress in a variety of ways, all hardwired.

But we can still do things to reduce that stress.

Here are some:

Some techniques recommended by experts are:

* to think positive thoughts.

* Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie.

* Get a massage, a facial or a haircut.

* Meditate.

* Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated.

* Avoid difficult people when possible.

* Thought for the day: When seeing red, think pink clouds….then float on them.

Hi Douglass! Well, yes of course we are connecting here on Saturday night! What else would I be doing - but being here for you and ours? I've done that exact same thing with the flaming olive oil!!! Thank goodness for smoke alarms, eh? I also have to confess that once I burnt my tea kettle!!! yep! That's what happens when you turn your back and get into your artwork, eh? thanx for the sparklers! Oh they are beautiful all over the spa! Such a wonderful ambiance!

Sprite is very adept at twirling them … and wow! look she is flipping them in the air and flying along side of them! She is an amazing monkey-spritelette!!! Best part about our spritelette is how eternally wise she is! Glitter abounds and wisdom exudes! Her sprite/faerie talents are amazing too!

Snow~Moon … thanks for the compliments! yes, I have lost weight! and yeah, the haircut makes me feel like I've lost even more! (psssst: I should show you some of my before and after pics sometime!)

CG - I am doing some writing but not on my NaMoWriMo material … well, not entirely true - I'm doing some exerts from what I wrote and pulling out some short-stories. I am also writing some poetry … maybe I'll post some of it. I'm also doing some visual art …

Hi Sprite … wow, your manicure has held up really well over these past few days and with all of your adventures too! Hey … with you in the southeast … you're closer to midnight than I am! It's only 7:30-ish here in the pacific northwest …  I tend to go out and party in real life … about every OTHER year … and this year is a good one for soaking in the spa and being here for our virtual PAR-TAY!!! I'm glad you brought champagne … and I brought some grilled salmon (my friend's bro fishes in Alaska and sends LARGE batches down for Christmas/New Years)

Midnight is only 45 minutes away. I usually stay in - have for years.  My sisters and our significant others would get together and have steaks, crab, shrimp, and lobster :)  Then we'd play spades until the New Year where we'd start a round robin calling all the rest of the family members who would call each of us.  It was fun.  Down here, I still plan a fancy dinner and do the phone calling.  In fact, tonight I brought us King Crab, crackers with a fancy creamy garlicky cheese, and PRINCESS chocolate cake with fresh succulent strawberries, blueberries, and cherries on the side. (I took a picture of the cake and I'll try to post it :)

Yum, I love grilled salmon. Wow, this is so fresh, just heavenly.  Heehee, I picked up treats today for my pup and kittie; they can't be left out of new years :-D 

Glad you put your feet up!  I think I'll let my hair down and relaaaaaaaaaaax.  I'm putting my tootsies up too!!!!  I have sparkly diamond gems on them,  aren't they pretty?  Terrible on the hose though.

Ooh, the rose flower arrangement I brought for us is opening so nicely!  I haven't had much luck with them lately, even cutting them under water they would just poop out. I just started buying myself flowers, especially roses, this past year. Fresh flowers just seem to add a bit of sunshine and smiles :)  Hope you all enjoy them!

Hi All and Good morning and Happy New Year!

Funny I was dreaming I was giving Venus a massage and then I see Sprite has changed her dress to one for a warmer climate, Virgin Islands or some such place she’s flying off to.

Those Lattes sound really good, make mine a double and I am really grateful for the dogs and cats all rustling around making gagging, licking, whining and purring noises this morning in the wee hours before dawn, otherwise I might have forgotten my dream and just got up to face a work day dreamless. So I’m thinking this year will be great, with lots of wonderful changes. I feel kind of like that feeling as you are ascending the rollercoaster, palms a little sweaty with white knuckles in anticipation and you’ve been here before so you know what to expect, FUN!!

By doing a simple breathing technique or visualization whenever you experience stress, you can slow your breathing, decrease your blood pressure, and even lower your heart rate.

Try this visualization from Tracy Gaudet, MD, director of the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine and author of Consciously Female (Bantam, 2004).

* Find somewhere where you can be alone and undisturbed for five minutes.

* Sit comfortably or lie down and close your eyes. Allow your breathing to deepen.

* Imagine a place you'd love to be in, and notice as many details as you can about that place. Indulge in the sensations of that spot. What can you see, hear, smell, and feel?

* As you head back into your day, carry with you the imagery and feelings your visualization elicited.

Going back to work on a Friday!!
That has to be against the law or something. Oh well, it'll be really good as soon as you get there and change gears, but be easy and no grinding them, OK?
Massages are available in those tropical turquoise seas only I'm out of the rose-sandlewood, but I have plenty of coconut butter and I have already bubbled up over at Sprite's. How about a deep pressure hydro massage that the sea herself will provide once we are about three atmospheres into her depths?

Wow!  I go into the woods for a week (at 8 degrees F!!!) and come back to find everyone still in the water!!!  Aren't y'all gettin' wrinkly-skinned and water-logged, or should I stop by with some resuscitative food?

If your weekly routine is wearing you down and winding you up, consider using imagery. It is a wonderful way to relax, reduce stress and work through those day-to-day challenges. This simple, low-tech and effective tool is free: all you need is your imagination and a few minutes to yourself. Begin by closing your eyes and taking deep, measured breaths. Imagine that you are in beautiful surroundings - either someplace you have visited or someplace you conjure up from your imagination. Focus on bringing all the elements of the scene to life: the colors you see, the sounds you hear, the smells you detect. Bring the images into focus and try to “stay in” the scene for at least five minutes. Practice this exercise for a few minutes every day or use whenever you're stressed.

I'm here because in this transition from ZAADZ to Gaia …. feeling a need to resort to what I know … the known and the comfort zone!  So, let me soak a bit and just relax and let all the newness go by the wayside for a bit. 

Did you know that there is actually a DSM (mental health) diagnosis that is called “ADJUSTMENT DISORDER” … it is one of the more benign diagnoses in our mental health field and one that I diagnose frequently … as I think:  WHO WOULDN”T be having a difficult time adjusting to all the f'ing changes that go on in our lives, our world!

People want to label the challenges and problems that we all have as problematic and wrong … especially for children - when in reality …. it is all about giving each other some slack for struggling with the constant changes that we encounter every day of our lives.

OK and now, I promised Sprite that I'd meet her here … to share some chips and dip and a Peach Margarita - in honor of her fabulous work accomplishments!

Whew, I had to follow you here, Peri!  Oooh, thanks, a peach margarite, yummy!!!! I think I'll have a couple of those chips, too, great dip, btw.  Ahhh, slipping my tired body, mind, and spirit into this lovely spa.

I couldn't seem to find my way on my own - kept clicking out to nowhere!  I am sure we will adjust.  A whole lot of ads, though, and busy-ness.  I can now see the option of paying to not get All this!  Before, I really didn't see the ads, oops, maybe I should stay quiet on that :) 

I like the idea of a road trip which could take us to options 2 and 3 as well!  I am such a Libra ;-D I'm up for any and all of them!!!  Where should we start?  In the meantime

ooh mama! I so need this tonight! I'm feeling quite low and lonely and sad and blue and all that other stuff too.

I'll soak here for as long as I need … the pool is surprisingly empty tonight …and oooh I've put some music on to to enjoy in the background and I've lit some candles and have added some scent to the pool. I love lavender and it soothes my soul. Oh my faeries are swirling around us!!! I love this!

mmm … might just sleep here tonight - away from all the pillow fighting and whipped cream, pie-throwing and road tripping.  Peaceful … thank you dear Martha, you're a genius.

Lol! You're right Peri and you know what I have been asking the universe about this C&C thing, well it's the breakfast of champions to you (Smile Face). Anyway, I think I know the answer now. You see it's like this; god I hate to hurt anyone or anything, but the truth is we are flesh and we kill to live. We either take out other life or we take out our own. Same thing with desire and feelings because ours sometimes conflicts with the feeling/desires of those we love. So rather then speak up and cause conflict it's much easier to take a C&C break and give up, die a little.
The painful truth is the pain I would cause by being extinct is so much more then the pain I would cause by saying something about my hurt, my feelings, my desire. God I want to live and fuck up, learn to say I'm sorry and breath and actually smell something for a change!

I'm doing the patch as soon as we hit the road for Montana.
